Crandon Park Tennis
Crandon Park Tennis Center features 27 tennis courts in total on two surfaces (hard court, American green clay).
Crandon Park has a rich history intertwined with the Miami Open, one of the world’s great tennis tournaments that was held there from 1987 to 2018. The efforts of Butch and Cliff Buchholz, along with Merrett Stierheim and others, led to the tournament’s relocation to this world-class facility that made Key Biscayne one of world’s most famous sites in tennis. Crandon Park was the epicenter of the Miami Open, hosting world-class players and creating memorable moments in the sport’s history. Its eventual transition to the Hard Rock Stadium marked a significant chapter in the tournament’s evolution, signifying the growth and expansion of professional tennis in Florida.

TENNIS PROGRAM INSTRUCTORS

TENNIS PROGRAM INSTRUCTOR
Originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina, Rojas moved to Miami four years ago with his family to begin a new chapter in the United States. He holds a degree in Information Systems and has more than 28 years of professional experience working in banking and corporate environments. Alongside that career, he has spent 38 years teaching tennis, focusing on player development and long‑term skill progression.
Rojas is known for his teaching philosophy centered on education and growth. As he often says, “I find the greatest satisfaction when, after six months, a student truly becomes a tennis player, just as any educator succeeds when their subject is fully learned.” Away from the courts, he enjoys golf and traveling with his family.
Together, the Crandon Park Tennis Center staff supports USTA Florida’s ongoing commitment to providing consistent access, quality programming, and a strong community-driven tennis environment.
