Around The Courts: A Fresh Fall Season Begins at Crandon Park Tennis Center

Fall is officially here at Crandon Park, and there’s a lot to celebrate as we transition out of a memorable summer and into an exciting new season. From new leadership stepping into key roles to program graduations, successful community events, and the launch of our brand-new fall lineup, there’s something for every player this month. Here’s a look at what’s been happening on our courts and what’s ahead.

Junior & Adult Tennis Highlights

August was a rewarding month across our adult programs, with six players officially crossing the finish line on August 31. Congratulations to our Love to Play graduates Niklas Nutzeblum, Natalia Zviagina, Dania Nutzeblum, and Andrew Britton, and to our Love to Learn graduates Natalia Stevens and Ashley Ward. It’s been wonderful to see so many players progress through our development pathway this summer.

We also want to celebrate the success of our Love Serving Autism Event and Intro to Coaching Workshop, both held on August 15. Both events brought great energy to the facility and reinforced our commitment to growing the game and making tennis accessible to every member of our community.

On the junior side, our Summer Red Ball classes on Thursdays were a big hit, averaging six-plus kids each week and giving our youngest players a fun, welcoming environment to fall in love with tennis from the very start.

Looking ahead, September marks the launch of our new Fall Programming lineup, with something for players of all ages and skill levels. Young players can start their tennis journey with Red Ball 1 (ages 4-5) and Red Ball 2 (ages 6-7), while our Junior Clinic serves ages 8-12 and our Teen Clinic welcomes players 13 and up. Adults have plenty to choose from as well, including our Adult Beginner Clinic, our Instant Clinic (3.0-3.5), and our Advanced Clinic (4.0-4.5). Two brand-new additions round out the schedule this fall: the Seniors Clinic for players 65 and up and Hitting Frenzy, a drop-in rally-based session for 3.0+ players. Our popular Love 2 Learn and Love 2 Play Friday series also continues, providing a structured six-week pathway into the sport with a free racquet and t-shirt for every new Love 2 Learn participant.

We also have a packed weekend of Cardio Tennis programming coming up. On Thursday, September 11, we’ll host our Cardio Triples Training followed by a Cardio Triples Community Event, giving players the chance to experience a high-energy, fitness-forward take on tennis. Then on Saturday, September 12, we’ll continue the momentum with our Cardio Tennis Workshop. It’s a great way to get on court, get moving, and connect with the Crandon Park community.

Facility Update

Big news off the court: Alex Rodriguez has been promoted to Director of Operations, and Rebeca Molina de la Rosa has joined the team as Tennis Center Programs and Play Manager. Both bring years of experience and a deep passion for growing the game, and we’re excited to have them leading the next chapter at Crandon Park. Read the full announcement here.

Coaches Tip of the Month

Before serving, take your time and establish the same routine every single point. Whether it’s bouncing the ball a set number of times, taking a deep breath, or visualizing your target, a consistent pre-serve routine helps improve your rhythm, focus, and confidence. The best servers in the world all have their own rituals, and those rituals are what allow them to stay calm under pressure and repeat their motion when it matters most. Build your routine, trust it, and let it carry you through every service game.
