Around The Courts: A Big Finish to Summer at Crandon Park Tennis Center

The final stretch of summer is here at Crandon Park, and there’s plenty on the calendar before the season winds down. From back-to-back workshops on August 15 to the conclusion of our inaugural Summer Camp and a wave of program graduations, August is shaping up to be one of our most active months yet. Here’s a look at what’s been happening on our courts and what’s ahead.

Junior & Adult Tennis Highlights

Our Summer USTA Florida Leagues continued in July, and our adult clinics stayed busy throughout the month. August will bring another wave of program milestones, with graduation set for August 31. Congratulations in advance to Natalia Stevens and Ashley Ward, who will graduate from Love to Learn, and to Natalia Zviagina, Andrew Britton, Dania Nutzeblum, and Niklas Nutzeblum, who will graduate from Love to Play. It’s been rewarding to see so many players progress through our development pathway this summer.

On the junior side, our inaugural Summer Camp at Crandon Park Tennis Center wraps up on August 31. Our campers enjoyed fun-filled half days of tennis instruction and games throughout the summer, and it’s been wonderful to see so many young players discover the game right here at historic Crandon Park.

Adult clinics continue throughout August. Our Instant 3.0/3.5 Clinic runs Mondays and Wednesdays, our Adult Advanced Clinic runs Tuesdays and Thursdays, and our Adult Beginner Clinic runs Thursdays and Saturdays. The next session of Love to Learn and Love to Play begins August 14, with Love to Learn and Love to Play.

On the junior side, Red Ball classes continue Thursdays and Saturdays. Keep an eye out for Fall Programming details coming soon!

Upcoming LSA Event

Mark your calendars for August 15, when we’ll be hosting two great opportunities at the facility. The Love Serving Tennis Autism Tennis Workshop and our Intro to Coaching Workshop will both take place that day, offering meaningful ways to grow the game and support our community. Whether you’re passionate about inclusive tennis or looking to explore a path into coaching, these workshops are a great way to get involved.

Facility Update

With Summer Camp wrapping up on August 31, we want to give one more thank you to every family, camper, and staff member who helped make our first summer at Crandon Park such a success. We can’t wait to build on this momentum heading into the fall.

Coaches Tip of the Month

Always keep your feet moving. Small, active shuffles between shots keep you ready to react in any direction, while flat-footed players will always be a step behind. Great footwork isn’t about running faster, it’s about staying engaged with tiny adjustments between every ball. If your feet are quiet, your shots will be too.
